For this evening Warrior Poets invites the interdisciplinary artist Jacob V Joyce with The Alphabetical Anthology of White Liberal Proverbs.

Joyce is a member of the sorryyoufeeluncomfortable collective, a London-based collective of thinkers and makers, using art practice to interrogate dominant discourses and structures. They are united by a rejection of the idea that we are living in a post-racial, post-patriarchal, post-heteronormative and post-colonial society, and by a desire to challenge and critique these dominant structures. 
Joyce performs spoken word and solo electronic music which combines West African folkloric imagery with poetic strategies of resistance. With his work, he formulates satirical and theatrical critiques to institutional and systemic instances of marginalization.


This performance features poetry and collages from the original publication of The Alphabetical Anthology of White Liberal Proverbs, an A - Z of common phrases used by the white liberal. Doing so, Joyce creates a contextual back drop and at the same tome a visual critique of common discourses and the dominant narratives of pop culture.
