Wildness is een portret van “The Silver Platter”, een legendarische bar in het oosten van Los Angeles waar de lokale latin/LGBT-gemeenschap (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender) al sinds 1963 welkom is. Onder het goedkeurend oog van eigenaar Mr. Ramirez fungeert de bar als een toevluchtsoord voor de veelal illegale Mexicaanse transgenders. De film is tevens het relaas van de creativiteit én het conflict dat ontstaat wanneer een aantal jonge ‘queer’ kunstenaars, waaronder regisseur Wu Tsang zelf, wekelijkse performance party’s organiseren. Elke dinsdag, onder de noemer “Wildness”, injecteren ze de enigszins slaperige bar met een dosis electriciteit en pompende beats van Total Freedom en Nguzunguzu. Er worden banden gesmeed, wars van generaties, klasse en geslacht.
