Shabjdeed
There are rappers and then there is Shabjdeed. The iconic Jerusalemite has carved his name as the leading rapper in the region, taking lyricism to another level entirely with his mastery of the Arabic language and his talent for worldbuilding both within the parameters of a track and in holistically crafting an album. Sindibad el Ward (2019) his debut album with Al Nather, has been referred to as a “milestone for Arabic hip-hop,” and the single Mtaktak voted as one of the greatest hip hop songs of all time on the BBC. With a constantly evolving style, authenticity, a penchant for performance and absolutely no fear he has raised the ceiling for Arab rap, and amassed a fan base across the world. About time to add Brussels to the growing list of sold out shows, don’t you think?

Al Nather
Al Nather considers himself both an observer and architect of Arabic soundscapes. Hailing from Ramallah, he cofounded Palestinian hip-hop collective and label BLTNM, pronounced "blatinum," as in the rugged Arab way of saying "platinum". As a producer he draws from a wide net of influences from traditional Arab music to UK hip hop, weaving dark and leftfield sounds into futuristic or cinematic atmospheres. Aside from Shabjdeed and Al Nather, other artists on the label include Daboor, Fawzi, Smokaholic and Touch. Their sound has reached far beyond their homeland, not sticking to stereotypical narratives of struggle and resistance, but showing the world that Palestine can never be folded into a single story. And that it sounds sooo gooood.
