Post-punk-pop fever dream of saturated sauerkraut contrasts.
Sergeant is the avant-pop band of composer-cinematographer Benjamin Cools and sing-searching actor Ferre Marnef. They gathered their sampled selves at the abyss of pop music to present a debut album that sounds like a date gone wrong between post-punk and krautrock. Via 1970s Paris (Gainsbourg!) and the industrial Ruhr, their journey is one full of Dadaist collage and abstract punk. Starting and ending in a fever dream of Brussels as a metropolis on the edge of collapse, full of saturated and hurried contrasts.
