shitfruit + Caroco

A dog feeling blue, hopefull flowers, quiet resilience and a brand new album.

WE 22.10 20:00

As with all good release parties, tonight is about new beginnings. After a long journey, the leap is finally made — even if it comes with a touch of melancholy for what ends in the process. And maybe the moment just before the leap is the most intense: perfect stillness, full tension, all the emotions. Eyes closed, ears open, we’re jumping in with shitfruit and Caroco.

shitfruit
shitfruit is the alter ego of producer/engineer Michiel De Maeseneer. After years spent behind the scenes, he now steps into the spotlight for the second time as an artist, with a fully self-recorded and produced album set for release on 14 October. On stage, shitfruit is joined by Kobe Lijnen (Whispering Sons), Fender Rooms (Porcelain ID), and Bastien Scutnaire (Colver). His sound drifts between chamber baroque and alternative pop, soaked in a distinct sixties vibe somewhere between Beck, Serge Gainsbourg, and Mac DeMarco. Sometimes shitfruit sings about a dog feeling blue, sometimes about flowers feeling hopeful, in a melancholic form of quiet resillience.

Caroco
At the age of nine, Caroco began writing lyrics. In the spring of 2020, she dusted off a microphone her parents had forgotten about, and today she is releasing Genèse, her first EP, on the visionary label Pan European Recordings. The Brussels-based Parisian sings about her youthful loves with disarming romanticism, accompanied by piano, electronics and the sensitivity of an old soul. A lover of pop, soul, rap and even techno, her influences are mainly female: Iliona, Yoa and Gracie Abrams. But she also cites Tom Odell and Chilly Gonzales. Caroco sees music as a remedy for expressing her emotions. A performance can therefore be seen as an invitation to dive into her diaries, on a (universal?) quest to find her own place in this wide world.
