High-tech doom-folk for a world haunted by algoritms.
€18 at the door
A deeper (and fairly radical) meaning of Perera Elsewhere's kind-of-newly-invented doom-folk is that technology allows traditional music from all (un)known corners of the world to cross-pollinate each, and how that seems to provide an answer to the ever-expanding-hellscape we all try to navigate today. But above all, come for the fascinating and unheard sounds of this bold pioneer. Tonight, you won't hear them anywhere else.

Perera Elsewhere
Under the name Perera Elsewhere, musician, producer and DJ Sasha Perera draws her musical spark from all ignitions. Her high-tech doom-folk is a kind of mutant experimental pop, where vocals, trumpet, deep bass and a swarm of electronics merge into psychedelic grime with hints of footwork and ambient, inspired by Tanzanian singeli, London futurism and Indonesian hardcore. Whether you're a Dean Blunt/Massive Attack fan or just have a curious mind, it's about ime to come and taste this elusive word soup with your own ears.
Since leaving London for Berlin and releasing three albums on the Los Angeles label Friends of Friends, Perera Elsewhere has carved out an impressive career for herself at Berghain, the Guggenheim and Sonar Festival, as a producer for German punk icon Nina Hagen, a teacher at the Universität der Künste in Berlin and for Ableton, while also creating soundtracks for Apple and Paolo Sorrentino. On her fourth album, Just Wanna Live Some, she tackles addiction, the torments of capitalism and how discreet ideas can offer a necessary counterpoint to grand machinations. This is perhaps the essence of Perera Elsewhere's doom-folk: celebrating human authenticity in a world taken over by algorithms.
