Born to a Syrian father and a Belgian mother, Nephtys is a singer, rapper, and composer, whose name pays tribute to the Egyptian goddess known as the protector of funerary rites. To cope with feelings of cultural disconnection, she found refuge in music from an early age. This led her to train her singing voice and later to embrace rap to channel her revolt with greater intensity, on her first two EP's Mistress Of The House (2018) and Roots (2020). In 2022 she took a new turn with I.D., an EP in French bridging chanson and urban pop. Featured by outlets such as NRJ, Tarmac, RTBF, and Rinse, she now returns with GENESIS—an EP of experimental and introspective R&B with Arabic, hip-hop, and soul influences. In this release, she opens up about her personal journey as a woman, tracing her path of familial, cultural, and emotional emancipation with striking honesty and radiant strength.
