In Yet, Light, you are Blind, Loucka Fiagan draws on the works of Denise Ferreira da Silva, Fred Moten, and Cheikh Ath’s words—“…all the things unimaginable in the light may be possible in the dark”—to explore the archetype of the shadow. The performance asks how shadows shape who we are, both as individuals and as a group, and how they might open space for renewal. It invites us to see identity not as fixed or coherent, but as dynamic, fractured, and always in becoming—especially in relation to Black identity.
Alone on stage, yet backed by a multidisciplinary team, Loucka conjures and hides shadows, shifting between clown, creature, ghost, and child. He weaves slam, stand-up, and rap into a restless flow of forms and styles—a body with its shadows, endlessly collapsing, reassembling, and refusing to settle into any final shape.
