We’ll start the clock on February 5th, 2015, 50 years to the day since Beursschouwburg officially opened its doors. 50 hours later, we’ll all be laying around knockout somewhere, in a black box or a soft silver theatre hall. We hope the celebration will be legendary (as is the amount of working hours we spent organizing it).
No lack of ambition here! We’ve planned 50 very diverse activities. This will be no ordinary party, but a multidisciplinary one, in which art meets craziness and in which we’ll collectively and happily squander 50 hours.
It’s important that you follow us very closely in the coming weeks, so that you are up to date on how we will organize those 50 hours (and on what we expect from you, except being present). In what follows, you can see what has been programmed up till now. But as you know, Beursschouwburg is permanently under construction. Changes are therefore always possible.
By the way, this programme is free of charge. A generous birthday gesture in harsh times.
Good to know:
You will in no case be hungry or thirsty during the Beursschouwburg marathon. As always, our super friendly bar staff is glad to provide you with drinks. On top of that, we’ll be serving the most exquisite meals at very reasonable prices, 50 hours straight. For the occasion, an actual BeursschouwBistro will open its doors. The chefs of L’Affaire Culinaire have already started the mise en place.
Sleeping is possible, under the stars with Marriott. Beursschouwburg has always had a special relationship with hotels. From Hotel Central (in 1995 in Hotel Central, just across the road on the Ortsstraat, squatters took over in protest against the corruption and stranglehold by project developers on the city) we're now heading for the Marriott Hotel. Our neighbours across the street will settle you down for the night. Bear in mind: this will be no ordinary night. Think of tents, stars, a full moon and the sound of a guitar accompanying snoring neighbours. Under the stars with Marriott. It could be a wonderful song.
