Jeremy Wade / The Battlefield Nurse Technologies of Impossible Repair (Love is not romance honey!)
In times of crisis the Battlefield Nurse prescribes a social political strategy. She calls it ‘love’. But it won’t work if love is mired in sticky romance and cheap lockets – hemmed into the incestuous circle of normative relations. We need love to serve as a force of interdependence among intimate strangers and all earthly creatures. Sing it!!
Met zijn drag alterego vraagt Jeremy Wade hoe we zorg kunnen emanciperen voor de toekomst als antwoord op sommige zeer urgente problemen van vandaag. Daarvoor bouwt The Battle Nurse haar Future Clinic For Critical Care, een performatief forum om samen met theoretici, maatschappelijk werkers, zorgverleners, mensen die zorg ontvangen én het aanwezige publiek te speculeren over de toekomst van zorg.

Jeremy Wade is een Amerikaanse performer en maker die in Berlijn woont en werkt. Zijn werk is even lichamelijke als conceptueel en onderzoekt queer en feministische manieren om de maatschappij mee vorm te geven. Drie weken na deze opening lecture brengt Jeremy Wade zijn performance The Clearing naar Beursschouwburg voor de Belgische première.
Waar The Battlefield Nurse ons WE LOVE YOU programma opent, zal Drag Mother het uiteindelijk weer afsluiten. Zo omarmen deze twee zorgfiguren het hele programma in een moederlijke omhelzing.
