Kaito Winse is a Burkinabe griot: a multi-musician, a poet and a storyteller of the oral tradition. When he met Benjamin Chaval (drums & Pure Data software) and Nico Gitto (guitar) in 2018, they joined forces to forge an entirely new alloy of European postmodernism and West African tradition. To do so, they built on the not-so-institutional path each band member traveled before: Benjamin with his open source Pure Data software, Gitto as a DIY instrument builder of the "lutherie sauvage" counter-tradition, Kaito Winse as the scion of a griot family and multi-instrumentalist who may sound to European audiences as the missing link between free jazz and opera.

Connected by their hunger for experimental grooves, Avalanche Kaito creates a musical space to deconstruct knowledge and catch a glimpse of a changing future.
