Last year, Psst Mlle organised a workshop to build a community sound system. This created a space where participants could share knowledge and skills in construction, woodworking, welding, sound, and sound system culture.
From this collective process—formed in a deliberately mixed group without cis men—the Pssound emerged. This sound system is not owned by Psst, nor is it intended for rental; rather, it is meant to be shared. Driven by a commitment to solidarity and as a counterbalance to the dominance of white men in Belgium’s music scene—particularly in sound system culture—the Pssound carries a political and collective mission: it is to be shared within MaGe* communities—those who built it.
Psst has developed a lending system based on a charter, which they will present tonight for collective (and your!) critical feedback in order to create the most equitable process possible.
Psst Mlle is an intersectional feminist platform standing for more inclusion and representation in nightlife and music. They aim to create tools to support MaGe* artists and cultural workers, while paying great attention to racial and economical discriminations. Their events question the codes of nightlife and deconstruct the dance floor. Besides, they try to tackle discrimination at its roots through workshops, conversations and more.
Beursschouwburg is very happy and proud that Psst Mlle is one of its associated artists for 2024-2026.
