Bram Devens named his alter ego after a comic book villain whose attacks are mistaken for declarations of love. It is no surprise then, that Ignatz's barely improvised compositions sound like loving adoration and lamentation at the same time. With his acoustic guitar, he interweaves sporadic effects, percussions, keyboard patterns and his gravelly voice into a type of blues that appears to emanate from a dimension where different rules about time and space apply.
